NYC Bike Share!

Let me just preface this entry with one sentence:
I am a huge fan of biking in New York City.
Anytime I have out of town guests I try to get them onto a bicycle. I don’t get into congestion pricing, the environment, or anything like that, I just try to emphasize how fast, practical, and fun riding in the city can be. The biggest problem Obscene NYC’s posse seems to run into with getting our friends on bikes is getting enough bicycles for enough people. Renting a bicycle for short term use can be a pretty daunting task!
Now imagine a bike rental network similar to Zipcar that would let you rent a bicycle for about 50 cents a trip through your credit card or cellphone. The New York Bike Share Project, produced by The Forum for Urban Design and Storefront for Art and Architecture, is trying to bring attention to a bike sharing system over the next week by providing presentations of successful programs in other major cities. In addition to the presentations, from July 7th to July 11th you can borrow a free bike for 30 minutes between the hours of 10am to 6pm.
Check out their site for more information and times.
