South Street’s Last Free Show of The Summer

MP3: Battles - IPT2
The free shows at South Street Seaport will be coming to an end this Friday. Battles will be headlining the show. Opening for them will be Deerhunter (7PM) and DJ Mike Wolf (6PM).
Mike Wolf is a writer for Time Out NY, and more importantly, a founder of The Polar Bear Club. The Polar Bear Club was an experimental music night that ran from 2000-2004 and ultimately turned into The Bunker — an electronic music institution where you’ll frequently find the Obscene NYC crew. We’re excited and curious to hear what he’ll be playing!
Battles, one of the only bands signed to Warp Records that plays traditional instruments, has always thrown a good show. According to Prefix’s interview with Tyondai Braxton this may be the last time to see Battles for a very, very long time.
Blog darlings Deerhunter have had a busy year in the press with onstage blowjobs, getting robbed, gardening, questionable photos on their blog, beef with critics and apparently playing some decent avant-rock/drone/shoegaze in between.
Come out, its a free show and the last Summer Friday for many people. Check the Seaport Music Festival Website for directions.
