Pay Day Show: GZA and Jamie Lidell at McCarren

There are a ridiculous amount of music and art events this weekend, but our pick of the week goes to GZA and Jamie Lidell at McCarren Pool this Saturday.

Update: We spoke too soon, this show has been cancelled. Bummed!

GZA/Genius of the Wu-Tang Clan will be performing the hip-hop classic Liquid Swords from beginning to end this Saturday. What makes this performance exciting to us is that a track off of the first PROPER Wu-Tang Group album in almost a decade leaked this week. The new Wu-Tang album has a release date of November 13, 2007. Read more about Wu-Tang Clan 8 Diagrams.

Jamie Lidell, the great soul/electronic hope of 2005, will be opening for GZA. We’re curious to see how a white soul/electronic musician from England will mesh with the performance of a 90s hip-hop classic. This will be Jamie’s last show in the United States this year.

Update: We spoke too soon, this show has been cancelled. Bummed!
