CMJ: Matt & Kim Played MH of Williamsburg, Art Goblins Go Guerilla

Matt & Kim played a predictably fun set at the Music Hall on Saturday as CMJ wound down. We caught them at a warehouse and Siren Fest this year and this show was just as crazy. Lots of stage diving (note: five dudes can’t jump into the same spot in the crowd all at once!), lots of college kids, lots of stage banter. Matt even read a few excerpts from his favorite book Letters to E.T. They must be the most appreciative band I’ve ever seen, thanking the crowd repeatedly between every song.

Art Goblins missed their opening set but treated the crowd to a short impromptu set of Art Brut songs as everyone was leaving. With just an amp in the corner of the lobby and a screaming Eddie Argos, it was the perfect way to close out CMJ. We walked home and slept for 24 hours.
