A double dose of minimoo
minimoo is an NYC-based collective that has been throwing minimal techno parties around the city (and when they’re on vacation, around the world!) since late 2006. We were lucky enough to catch Paul Ritch at minimoo’s last party, held in December at an absolutely ill space in Long Island City. These guys do techno the way it’s supposed to be - dark, dirty and all night long.
minimoo’s got a special January treat in store for us with back to back weekends that are both guaranteed to be insane. First up, January 19th brings Troy Pierce, considered by many to be the shining star on Richie Hawtin’s M_NUS label. A week later, on January 28th, they’ve lined up Matthew Dear and Camea to finish us off. After this January double dose, minimoo will be taking off February (in NYC… but LA, they’re coming for you!) with the next party coming in March.
It should be pointed out that Matthew Dear at minimoo will not be the same face of Matthew Dear that every indie rock blog in existence spent last year fawning over. Dear’s techno sets are nothing short of excellent, dipping heavily into his compositions made under his given name in addition to his work as False and, our favorite Matthew Dear guise, Audion.
The minimoo parties are invite-only, so get to work!
