Jonathan LeVine Gallery : Fall 2008 Opening

[ “Royal Disorder Earth Mutiny ” 2006 - Camille Rose Garcia ]
The Jonathan LeVine Gallery, one of New York’s best galleries for underground, outsider, and cutting edge art opens up the Fall season this weekend with a double header:
Camille Rose Garcia’s Ambien Somnambulants solo exhibition:
In Ambien Somnambulants, tragic sleepwalkers wander along beautifully bleak post-apocalyptic dreamscapes, inspiring dissent from a dire dystopia. Garcia’s stunningly subversive images expand upon her signature style of elaborate socio-political narratives, hidden beneath layers of fairy-tale charm. The artist creates human and animal characters, influenced by a vintage animation aesthetic, which aid in her epic visual storytelling, rendered in a palette of psychedelic color, glitter, and glazed-over collaged wallpaper.
The other show opening in the gallery is The Panorama Project 3 curated by Jordan Isip and Rodger Stevens. The project is apparently a single piece of art worked on by 134 artists. We don’t have any preview images, but we’re interested to see how it turns out.
Opening Reception for both shows is Saturday, September 6th, 7pm—9pm. The shows run until October 4th, 2008.
